A Guaranteed Way To Be Noticed And Differentiate Yourself

Throughout history, the Jewish people have been one of the most persecuted people but also the most prosperous. How is it they always find ways to succeed and thrive in very difficult circumstances?

In his book “Thou Shall Prosper: Ten Commandments for Making Money” Rabbi Daniel Lapin talks about a key view of the Jewish people: they are always looking for ways to add value. If you make “Always Add Value” your mantra in the marketplace you will be noticed and differentiate yourself from your competition. Rewards, recognition, and resources follow those that always add value.

As I write this I’m developing a website for a friend that is launching a new business. I have not asked to be compensated for my work. I’m doing it because he’s my friend and I want to serve him. Some may say I’m foolish or missing an opportunity to profit. In the short term maybe. However, I’m convinced over the long term that the person with the heart of a servant that adds value for others will always come out ahead.

When you go to work this week, here are some questions that will cause you to add value:

  • What needs to be done but no one is doing?
  • What is the greatest need in front of my team, group or company? What can I personally do to help with it?
  • What needs to be done even though I may not be recognized or compensated for it?
  • How can I make this good product or process great?
  • What around me is done repeatedly in different ways? Could a system be put in place to improve consistency and quality?
  • How can I serve my boss, co-worker or customer?
  • What do I really wish someone would notice in me? How can I recognize another person for that same thing?

Question: How can you add value in your workplace this week? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

  1. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could
add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was
hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.

Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward
    to your new updates.

    • Nubia, I use Buffer and love it. It’s not automatic but allows you to schedule social media posts that go along with your blog posts. Hope that helps!
